Evonik and Fuhua Tongda Chemicals Company (Fuhua) have established Evonik Fuhua Materials (Sichuan) Co., Ltd., a joint venture in Leshan, Sichuan Province, to produce and market hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in China. Evonik holds a 51% stake, with Fuhua owning 49%. Production is set to begin in the first half of 2026.

The joint venture leverages Evonik’s peroxide expertise and Fuhua’s local infrastructure. It follows a November 2023 license agreement, in which Evonik licensed its H₂O₂ technology for Fuhua’s 200-kiloton megaplant to supply the venture with hydrogen peroxide for purification.

“This next step in our successful partnership with Fuhua is of great importance to our strategy in the Asia Pacific region,” said Lauren Kjeldsen, head of Evonik’s Smart Materials division. “Our Active Oxygens business line aims to provide specialty solutions for some of the most important challenges facing a growing population, such as green energy and electronics. In Fuhua, we have found a partner with whom we can join forces to pursue these goals. Congratulations to the team on this milestone.”

In other news, Evonik and Oerlikon Barmag announced their cooperation to promote chemical recycling of Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) waste, focusing on efficient depolymerisation and purification processes, coupled with an integrated concept for repolymerisation and the associated EPC business models.

The partners plan to fully launch and commercialize the jointly developed chemical recycling technology solution by the end of the current decade.
