The divestment marks the latest phase of AkzoNobel’s ongoing strategic portfolio review, which is designed to refocus the company’s capital and capabilities on leading positions in key global markets. Akzo Nobel Pakistan Limited is mainly a decorative paints business. Future Coatings activities under Packages Group ownership will be subject to royalties.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026. The intended divestment follows on from the recent sale of Akzo Nobel India Limited, which was finalized in December 2025.

Specialty amines are key additives in the production of polyurethane foams used in automotive, construction, furnishings, and consumer goods, and they also play a key role as curing agents in epoxy systems for various applications like protective coatings and adhesives.

With upgraded production capabilities, the Nanjing plant is now equipped for commercial‑scale manufacturing of advanced reactive specialty amines tailored for high‑performance polyurethane and epoxy applications facing increasingly stringent emission standards.

According to PPG, this transaction advances the company’s long-term strategy to expand its pavement marking business and bolster its ability to deliver innovative solutions for a broad range of public- and private-sector customers.

According to the company, the acquisition expands Shrieve’s specialty portfolio and deepens its presence across key end markets. Together, the companies are positioned to enhance capabilities, broaden the combined portfolio, and strengthen relationships with customers and suppliers.

This expansion follows the opening of Nouryon’s innovation center in Shanghai in November 2025, which houses eight specialized laboratories, including one dedicated to Levasil for catalyst technologies and related applications. Together, the company says these investments reflect the its commitment to advancing innovative specialty chemicals, deepening customer collaboration and supporting long-term growth across the Asia-Pacific region.

Syensqo intends to introduce EO-based solutions made with Shell Chemicals’ lower-carbon feedstocks, which deliver up to 51% lower carbon footprint versus conventional EO1, through carbon capture utilization (CCU) credits via a mass-balance approach.

Verified under the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification  Carbon Footprint Certification, these drop-in solutions allow customers to reduce the carbon footprint of their formulations without requalification, while maintaining performance, quality, and supply reliability.

According to the companies, this expanded partnership highlights the complementary capabilities of Azelis and Chemetall. Through Azelis’s customer portals, customers can access Chemetall’s surface treatment technologies and solutions. These portals provide 24/7 access to download technical and safety information, place orders, and request samples.

The ORP® and ORGAL® product lines comprise redispersible polymer powders, as well as styrene-acrylic and acrylic emulsions for construction applications. Additionally, they are used for liquid roofing membranes and waterproofing systems.
